Allegory was honored to win "Best Litigation Solution" at Above the Law's inaugural alt.legal Innovation Awards, designed to give "the best startups in legal" an opportunity to "show the world (and ATL’s one million+ monthly readers) why their company is The One."
Out of sixty-six legal startup applicants, Allegory was one of 15 finalists invited to present at the Innovation Awards Company Showcase hosted by Above the Law on October 27, as part of its 2016 Academy of Private Practice in Philadelphia.
Founder and entrepreneur presenters had a mere three minutes to make a compelling presentation proving why their startup was deserving of the title "The One."
Judges and Winners
In the audience was a packed room of legal technology enthusiasts and a panel of expert judges, who voted on winners in each of seven alt.legal categories, as well as an overall winner, an honor which went to Casetext.
The Judges included alt.legal veterans Joe Borstein of Thomson Reuters and Above the Law alt.legal, Mary Juetten of Traklight and Evolve Law, Nicole Black of MyCase and Above the Law, and Monica Bay of Above the Law and Stanford CodeX.
Interview with Monica Bay
Monica Bay interviewed several winners, including Ned Gannon from eBrevia, Nehal Madhani from Alt Legal, and Alma Asay from Allegory, for her On the Road podcast. Asked about the origin of Allegory, Asay explained:
"I got really frustrated that everyone was focusing on eDiscovery but no one seemed to be building a product focused on the actual practice of litigation. Where we were using Excel, shared drives, and emails to manage our cases, now litigation teams are able to use Allegory."
